  • Build and maintain a trade management web application in React.js and TailwindCSS.
  • Work across the trading stack, including market data collection/adjustments and execution applications (handling the quirks of different markets).
  • Build internal tools for research and model iteration, including preparing and rolling out model weight updates.
  • Modernize and upgrade legacy Ruby on Rails services, shipping reliability improvements and big performance wins (including long-running jobs reduced from hours to seconds).
  • Run research/support tasks to help drive new model ideas, and support newer hires with onboarding and day-to-day guidance.
  • Contribute to team culture through enthusiasm and approachability, helping keep the team engaged and collaborative.

Start-up manufacturing indoor mushroom growing kits for individuals and businesses.

  • Lead all software work, including managing a small team (2 programmers).
  • Build an environment sensing/control system on Raspberry Pi connected to sensors and actuators.
  • Log customer and device data in AWS, and provide tooling to monitor and manage deployed units.
  • Develop a React.js web app for customers to view their Pi units and edit settings.
  • Write embedded Python software to manage atmosphere levels in container farms and grow boxes.
  • Assign tasks to teammates while balancing growth opportunities and strengths.

Junior Software Developer (C# / Visual Basic / Unity VR) (Blackman & White)

06/2020 – 09/2021 · Maldon (Essex)

Company manufacturing and selling custom CNC machines.

  • Built a C#/Unity VR demo showcasing CNC machines.
  • Created data visualizations in AWS Kibana that became a customer-facing productivity product.
  • Helped develop ZebraCut, a C# application that controls CNC machines.
  • Wrote code that directly affected how customer CNC machines operate in the field.
  • Presented at the University of Essex about the role and day-to-day work.

Notable projects

Dog Gender Quiz / ML Model

React.js / Python / ResNet18 · 1-day build (27-02-2026)

A one-day project inspired by lessons from the fast.ai course (taken in my free time): humans are pitted against a fine-tuned image model to guess a dog’s sex from a single photo.

  • React frontend where users guess the answer, then see the model’s confidence score.
  • Backend serves a fine-tuned ResNet18 trained on a dog image/features dataset (including puppies).
  • Hard problem by nature: the model reaches about 56% accuracy, roughly similar to human-level accuracy.
  • Interesting model behavior: confidence jumps when clear sex-specific anatomy is visible, suggesting it learned meaningful visual cues.

GrowYourOwn stack

React.js / AWS / Python · 02/2021 – 2023

A suite of services and applications that make managing mushroom farms easier, including a web application for customers to manage container farms and at-home grow kits.

Blackman and White GCode Simulator

C# / Unity / SteamVR · 09/2019 – 06/2020

A VR CNC machine showroom/simulator that started as my university capstone project and continued during my time at Blackman and White.

  • Real-time VR simulation of CNC machines (Unity + SteamVR).
  • Includes a GCode interpreter: accepts GCode files and simulates cutting operations.
  • Generates cut models dynamically from GCode.

ZebraCut

C# plugin for Rhino3D · 09/2019 – 06/2020

Plugin enabling users to control CNC machines directly from CAD software (developed alongside Dr. David Birch).
